Captain’s Blog July 4, 2011 (Day 59) Pacific Surf Motorhome Estate

We didn’t do much on the 4th. We decided to say another night and avoid the traffic and crowds in the area. We spent the day finishing up some paper work, caught up on the blog and finances, sat around and talked with the neighbors and walked on the beach. It was a very quiet day.

We decided not to purchase an $89,000 site (LOL). Although beautiful with killer views there is too much of the country to see and experience to be locked into one place. So right now we will pass up any deals to stay longer then 3-5 days at a time.  When we are too old to RV we will find a nice place to land for long periods of time.

Interestingly, we have discovered that the average temps on the Oregon coast are 58- 68 sometimes reaching 70. At night dropping into the high 40’s and low 50’s. We have been out 60 days and the only time we were able to put on summer clothes was in Moab where the temps were in the high 70’s and low 80’s. It’s been so long since then that our tans are fading. LOL.

We’ll continue down the coast and hopefully when we hit California we’ll get some consistent sun and heat.

When walking the beach we took some time to really observe the rocks and landscape. There were lots of rocks, and caves craved from the force of the water and many different fossils embedded in the rocks and cliffs.

As we walked along the beach we were amazed at how the ocean and water can carve out the rocks. We ran into what looked like a manmade cobblestone road but it was actually carved from the forces of the water.

Looking at those cobbled rocks reminded us of the lost city of Atlantis. There are many stories surrounding the lost city and one is that similar cobblestones found on the ocean floor were man made while others dispute that theory. You decide.

After another great walk on the beach we went back to the MH to plan our departure. We will be heading to the  Sea Caves about 50 miles south to view the wildlife. Not sure if we will be just stopping there on our way through or if we will be spending the night.
