Captain’s Blog July 17 & 18 ( Days 72 & 73) Resting & Catching Up, Viking R-V Park, Kingsburg, CA

Sunday we decided to hang around the CG, enjoy the weather, sit under the shade tree and relax for a change. I was still catching up on the blog so needed some down time. The weather had been fantastic with bright sun and  nice breezes.

We had planned to take in the Sequoia National Forest on Monday but decided we could wait on that. We’ve seen quite a few Sequoias and although we know there is more to do there we opted out for this trip. Planned on hanging around one more day then head to cousin Nancy’s in Oxnard.

We woke on Monday morning to a buzz of activity. The owners of the RV park were setting up to install a sprinkler system right where we were parked.

Unfortunately, we had to move the MH, so we had to decide if we wanted to leave the park or just move our site.

We decided to move our site and the owners were so apologetic for having us move they gave us our new site for $10.00 for the night. Good deal and we didn’t feel like a travel day anyway.

Later we took a ride to the Sun Maid Raison Factory hoping to get a tour. When we asked the receptionist if they gave tours she very sternly and seriously told us no tours were provided since 9/11. OK – no tour. Of course Ron just had to comment –” OH, the terrorist would be after the raisons???” Sometimes what he thinks just slips out. The receptionist did chuckle on that one and we laughed about it for the rest of the day.

Kingsburg is the home to the largest box of raisons in the country.

Back at the MH we stayed inside with the AC on. Our new site did not provide us with a shade tree or much lawn. We were spoiled at our other site. Even Jewel was not happy. She kept asking for her tree????

We managed to get a site at the Evergreen RV Park in Oxnard for a week. So will be heading there on Tuesday to spend some time with Nancy.
