It was off to Hollywood to see the sights and be a tourist. Cousin Nancy and her friend Nancy joined us in our trip into the city of stars. I had never been there so I was looking forward to it.
Both Nancy’s suggested we take the Pacific Coast Highway to enjoy the views and to avoid the freeway traffic. We had driven the PCH in 1989 but were surprised at how much it has developed.
We remembered the Houses directly on the road but when we stopped at an overlook we noticed the road below us.
Standing on the edge of the cliff with the beautiful houses below us.
We drove through Beverly Hills and Bel Air. It was difficult to get any pictures because everything was gated and pretty well hidden. We did get some glimpses of some spectacular homes.
This area is quite lovely. It was too bad we couldn’t see more and get better pictures.
It took us about 2 hours to get to Hollywood. Our first intro to Hollywood was large guitars everywhere. On street corners, in front of buildings and in center islands.
We drove down Hollywood Boulevard and were amazed at the throngs of people. Of course this was a destination for tourists so thousands of people should have been no surprise.
We found a parking garage under Madame Tussauds Wax Museum and started our adventure with our first stop in the museum.
As we toured the museum we made our own fun!
After we finished making fools of ourselves in the museum we headed outside to get the pictures of the STARS, handprints & footprints.
We left the throngs of people in Hollywood and made our way back to Oxnard but not until we got through tons of traffic. The plan was to eat at a restaurant on the Santa Monica Pier. Unfortunately we couldn't get there from the freeway and once on the PCH there was no place to turn around.
Although the PCH was congested with traffic we managed to get a few more pictures of the beautiful and unique beach front homes.
Who has all this money???
We stopped at a restaurant called the Chart House right on the ocean.
Ron and cousin Nancy enjoyed their food but Nancy and I had prime rib that was way over done. The waiter let the manager know and he graciously deducted the cost of one meal from our bill.
Later we stopped at another view point to catch more ocean views.
We had a fun day and got home around 9 PM. Not sure what our plans are for Friday but looking forward to another day with Nancy.
Believe it or not there were lots of people on the beach and even more people surfing in the dark.
