After talking with several people Ron chose not to take route 120 down the new Priest Grade. He was told that the ride down the new grade was as bad as the old grade. So we took route 132 and it turned out to be a pretty good travel road.
We still had to maneuver some steep grades and tight turns but they were supposedly better then either Route 120 or Route 41. Once out of the mountains there was nothing but miles and miles of tan dead grass.
And an occasional Palm tree.
We were looking for an RV Park fairly close to both Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Park. Fortunately we found a great place called Viking R-V Park in the middle of both with full utilities. Since they are Passport America Members we secured our site for 1/2 price at $20.00 per night.
The park sits in the middle of an industrial park with big warehouses all around it and a train track practically on top of it. It is like an oasis in the middle of a desert with green grass and rose bushes all around.
We finally were back in the loop so I spent Friday trying to catch up on the blog. With nine days to review I had my work cut out for me. Ron set up a second laptop with the Wi Fi Ranger and caught up on the finances. We haven’t had services for so long we were really off the grid.
We did put the TV on for about 10 minutes and the news was so depressing we turned it off. Sometimes it is better to be off the grid but we don’t like not having contact with our family.
It was nice just staying in one place and not running off to do something. We have not had many down days except over the July 4th weekend while waiting for some updates on family issues at home.
Our next adventure will be in Kings Canyon.
