We left Viking R-V Park around 9:30 AM expecting to take fours hours to get to Oxnard. The traffic was fairly light and the weather was clear and bright. Around Bakersfield the temp soared into the high 90’s and it got very very hot.
It was a good time to get the newly fixed dash AC running to cool us off – right? Nope, WRONG!!!! It didn’t work – just blowing out hot air. How can that be – we just spent over $10000.00 to get it fixed less then one month ago. Not Good! Not Good!
We opened the windows and let the hot air blow on us and couldn’t wait to get to Oxnard for some cooler temps. It is fairly close to the ocean so is usually cooler.
But first – we had to make another mountain run over the dreaded Grapevine. I guess the Grapevine has a reputation as being a very difficult mountain to pull and although it is now a four lane highway anything bigger then a car, van, pick-up or SUV traveled no faster then 30 miles an hour. So it was very slow moving.
We arrived in Oxnard at the Evergreen RV Park around 2:30 PM. The temp had dropped into the low 70’s and the air was much cooler but we were still hot about the malfunctioning AC.
We were not sure if the RV park would be OK since it sits in the middle of downtown Oxnard, but it turned out to be quite nice.
We got settled in, called Nancy and let her know our situation. Ron spoke to manager of the RV park and got the name of a reputable RV repair shop. At Nancy’s we called Poulsbo RV in Washington and Ron spoke to the manager who was surprised that the AC was on the fritz. He told us to get a diagnostic on it and if it was their fault they would absorb the additional cost. Ron called Bill’s RV Service and we had an appointment set up for the next morning.
BY this point we were both tired and disgusted about the original AC repair but we put it aside so we could enjoy our visit with Nancy.
It was great to see her again and all her cats. Jewel wasn’t sure about the cats but she was good and didn’t try to bother them.
We had a delicious dinner that Nancy prepared for us and caught up on the happenings since Nancy came out to visit us two years ago. We had a very enjoyable evening with Nancy.
