Today we decided to take a ride into Kings Canyon National Park. My preference would have been to stay put but Ron the Robot Man wanted to go – so we did.
The drive to Kings Canyon was about 54 miles from the CG with nice vistas and great roads.
Our first stop was Grants Cove with a stand of giant sequoias.
Sequoias can survive fires because there skin is over two feet thick.
We walked through the tree tunnel of a fallen Sequoia. For years it had been used as shelter by animals and native Indians.
Still standing after 139 years.
Once again never ending beauty. I’ve run out of words to describe the immense mountain range and its diversity.
We ran into some unusual plant life with great big thorns on them. Wouldn’t want to be scratching my back on those!!
Kings River was running fast and strong and beautiful. There were signs everywhere warning people of the danger of going into the water either by choice or by falling in.
The round trip drive was 200 miles – so a very long day but well worth the time and travel.
