Captain’s Blog June 11, 2011 (Day 36) Graduation Day

The weather has been fairly good. Morning have been cloudy but by early afternoon the sun peeks through and it warms up. Today was no exception.

We arrived at the Tacoma Dome around 10:30 AM. The place was mobbed but were able to get some decent seats. I was surprised to see so many people there. Megan’s graduation class is huge with 500 students. There was no limit to the number of people who could attend so the Dome filled quite nicely. Megan had 22 people attending with eight of us from Massachusetts.

High School graduation is a much bigger event then it is back home because it is the only graduation the kids have. There is no  middle school graduation in this area.

Megan graduated with honors and will be attending Central Washington University in the Fall majoring in Sociology. She is excited about that and looking forward to her next journey in life. image

The graduation ceremony was exceptionally nice and the speakers very vibrant. The choir was great and the entire ceremony only took 90 minutes. I guess there were several other graduations scheduled so its’ in and out in record time.

Back at the house there was preparation for Megan’s party. She actually had two parties – one right after graduation with her Father and his family and then another with us later in the day.

That night she took off with over 100 members of her class for a post graduation senior night. It is planned by the school and the students are bused to a surprise destination for some safe and chaperoned fun.

We headed back to the MH around 11PM after a long but very fun day.
