We left Bryce around 9:30 AM. The CG was emptying out fast. Lots and lots of rental RV’s at Bryce as well. We noted that most were European visitors. Our Kelly had tried to rent an RV for the weekend but no luck. None available. That’s because they are all here in the Southwest.
As an update. our granddaughter, Megan is recuperating well from her tonsillectomy on July 28th. She is getting excited about starting her school year in September at Central Washington University. Kelly, is progressing well from her shoulder surgery and is back to work. Back at home our Grandson Tanner, started a summer job at Marty’s RV and Steven is taking driving lessons. WOW, we’re getting OLD!!!
Along the road we had to make a pit stop. This is what we stopped next too. A lot full of old cars for sale. Tom and the boys like to refurbish old cars so I think they would like this place.
Our plan was to stop at the Best friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah since it is on our way. We are members of Best Friends and make an annual donation to the cause of saving animals. Best Friends is a controversial organization- loved by many but hated by many as well. Although we do believe in their cause we do sometimes think they are a little radical. In fact, Ron mentioned them on one of his RV forums and he was told if he ,mentioned them again they would ban him from their forum. Wow, the moderator is very opinionated with a closed mind. I guess.

Anyway we did stop and took a very nice tour of the 3800 acre complex. The staff was very friendly and more then accommodating. The grounds and buildings were beautiful and immaculate. The animals live in quarters that are better then some people live in.
The sanctuary houses more then just cats and dogs. They house horses, pigs, birds, rabbits and also rehab injured animals to return them to the wild. They have a strict no –kill policy and will even relocate mice and snakes
We were able to go inside and interact with some of the cats.
Also, we stopped at the dog Motel but for some reason Ron didn't get any pictures. Too busy petting the dogs.
After visiting the sanctuary we determined we would like to come back and volunteer for a week in the future. We also decided that we need to volunteer at the Animal Shelter at home. I feel another dog coming on. LOL.
Back on the road we had another 80 miles to get to Page, Arizona. Our plan there is to take in the Antelope Canyon . We found a CG not far from Antelope Canyon with full hook-ups. Since we were back in the desert (how smart are we) air-conditioning was a must have.
We arrived around 6 PM settled in and decided to go out to dinner at the local Denny’s. Of course we had breakfast. Next off to Safeway to refurbish our dwindling food supply. By the time we were done it was after 9 PM and we were tired.
We stopped in the CG office and asked about booking a tour with a local tour company for the Antelope Canyon. No luck, sold out for the next two days. I guess we’ll have to take our chances at the Canyon and hope that one of their tours is available. No more activity for the day so rest and relaxation was on the agenda for the rest of the night.
All Photos for Day..
