The weather in Bryce has been incredibly beautiful with the average daytime temps in the low 80’s. We slept very well with the temp around 60. Big change from the heat of the desert.
We took the 17 mile Overlook Drive and were quite pleased with the views. We were told by someone we met at another CG that every overlook was the same. Not so.
A bus load of people arrived at the Natural Bridge Overlook and the bus driver was taking pictures of the passengers. Sooooo we got in line and had him take our picture too. Ron always says – Just act like you belong and no one will notice.
We continued down the road and were inspired by the beautiful surroundings.
There were 14 stops on Overlook Drive. Each view a little different with colors from super vibrant to pale.
When we went to the Astronomy talk the ranger was telling everyone about the ravens that will sit and talk to people. We thought he was kidding but sure enough we ran into a very social, talkative Raven.
Rainbow point was the last stop on the 17 mile drive with an elevation of 9115 feet. We took a short hike and then stopped for our picnic lunch.
After completing the 17 mile drive we took a side road and stopped at Bryce Point. We were awe struck when we reached the viewpoint. Definitely, the best of all.
One last stop before heading back to the CG was Fairyland Canyon. Another beautiful viewpoint.
Our plan was to take a hike after finishing the day but we opted out because it was getting late. Instead we went back to the CG, had dinner and enjoyed the evening sky with its bright, bright stars.
